Although Barcelona value the Spanish youngster highly, reports suggest the club do not consider him completely untouchable if the right circumstances were to arise during the remainder of the transfer window.
That has kept several European clubs alert, with Arsenal continuing to follow his progress.
Andrea Berta is believed to be evaluating a number of midfield options as Mikel Arteta looks to further strengthen an already talented squad.
While Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimarães remains Arsenal’s priority target in the middle of the park, the club are also planning for the future and continue to track some of Europe’s most promising young midfielders.

Bernal fits that profile perfectly.
The Spain youth international has consistently impressed whenever given opportunities in Barcelona’s first team, showcasing the technical quality and positional awareness that have drawn comparisons with some of the club’s finest midfield graduates.
Arsenal believe the teenager has the potential to develop into one of Europe’s leading holding midfielders and would reportedly be interested should an opportunity to negotiate with Barcelona emerge.
However, completing any deal would be far from straightforward.
Barcelona remain keen to retain Bernal, viewing him as an important part of Hansi Flick’s long-term plans, while the player himself has previously spoken positively about continuing his development at the Camp Nou.
Any transfer would therefore depend on Barcelona’s stance changing before the window closes, as well as Arsenal deciding to formalise their interest.
For now, the Gunners’ primary midfield focus remains Bruno Guimarães, but Bernal continues to be monitored closely as Arsenal keep multiple options open.
With Barcelona still balancing their squad and finances, Bernal’s future is expected to remain a story worth watching throughout the remainder of the summer transfer window.
