Liverpool suffered a setback on Tuesday when the team's flight from Chicago to New York City was canceled.
The Reds were due to travel from Illinois to New York ahead of their preseason friendly against Wrexham at Yankee Stadium on Wednesday. Yet adverse weather stopped the players from making the two-hour trip; they are now set to fly on Wednesday.
More rain and thunderstorms are expected in the New York metropolitan area on Wednesday, putting the game at risk of cancellation. Andoni Iraola and his players will hope that the weather doesn't cause any more disruption to their United States tour.
The Reds made a great start to their trip by beating Sunderland 4-2 in Nashville, Tennessee, over the weekend. Assuming the game against Wrexham in New York goes ahead, Liverpool will then travel back to Chicago for a friendly with Leeds on Sunday.
Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson was asked about the prospect of playing Liverpool earlier this month. Presuming the game goes ahead, it promises to be one of the biggest friendlies in the Welsh club's history.
"Obviously, going to New York to play Liverpool at an iconic stadium is going to be something special," said Parkinson. "Let’s be honest with you, that’s just incredible playing in New York, it’s an absolute dream."

Wrexham has experienced a meteoric rise since actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac bought the club at the start of the decade. The team has risen from the fifth tier of English soccer to the Championship, now sitting just one level below the Premier League.
Wrexham's popularity, especially in the United States, has also soared thanks to the docuseries 'Welcome to Wrexham.' Thousands of Wrexham fans, as well as countless Liverpool supporters, are expected to be in New York for Wednesday's scheduled friendly.
Salah's ultimatum
Meanwhile, Mohamed Salah's search for a new club continues.
The Egyptian ended his nine-year spell with Liverpool earlier this summer, having scored 257 goals and won several trophies, including two Premier League titles and the 2019 Champions League.
It's believed that several teams are interested in signing Salah, 34. There are reports linking him with clubs in the Saudi Pro League and Major League Soccer.

Yet he could also stay in Europe, with Besiktas interested. The Turkish team has made a 'take-it-or-leave-it' offer to Salah, as sporting director Onder Ozent confirmed.
"Besiktas' offer, made on its own terms, is on the table," Ozent told a news conference, as quoted by Fanatik. "If a response to this offer comes, it can be evaluated. But Besiktas will not make another offer.
"They've said they're in talks with another club as well; perhaps they'll reach an agreement there. Our final offer to Salah is the last word — one that doesn't compromise Besiktas' club identity."
