Matias Fernandez-Pardo has reportedly submitted a transfer request to force a move away from France
Liverpool’s recruitment has already undergone significant change this summer following the departure of Mohamed Salah. Replacing the goals, creativity and attacking threat of one of the club’s greatest forwards is a long-term challenge, and the Reds have continued to explore a range of options capable of strengthening their front line.
The arrival of Alexander Isak last summer addressed one part of that equation, but the Sweden international’s injury record means Liverpool could still look to add another versatile attacker this summer.

Competition for places across the front three is expected to remain a priority as Andoni Iraola prepares for a demanding campaign that includes domestic and European football.
That search has already seen Liverpool linked with several attacking players in recent weeks. Another name has now emerged after developments in France suggested one of Ligue 1’s brightest young forwards is pushing for a move despite firm resistance from his current club.
According to L’Equipe, Lille forward Matias Fernandez-Pardo has submitted a transfer request after being informed that the French club do not intend to sell him this summer. The report states that Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and Atletico Madrid are all monitoring the 21-year-old Belgium international.
Fernandez-Pardo joined Lille from Gent in a €10 million deal in 2024 and has made a strong impression since arriving in northern France. He has contributed 12 goals and 11 assists in 71 appearances across all competitions.
Despite the growing interest, Lille president Olivier Letang has made the club’s position clear. He has publicly ruled out a transfer, insisting Fernandez-Pardo remains under contract until 2029 and is central to new head coach Davide Ancelotti’s plans for the upcoming season.
Lille’s determination to keep the forward extends beyond his individual performances. The club are already managing an injury setback after Hamza Igamane suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury, while veteran striker Olivier Giroud is set to turn 40 in September. Those circumstances have strengthened their desire to retain one of their most valuable attacking players.
The French side also believe Fernandez-Pardo’s value could continue to rise if he performs well in the UEFA Champions League this season. That expectation is another reason why Lille are unwilling to enter negotiations, even with several high-profile clubs showing interest.
Liverpool have already been linked with a move for the 21-year-old earlier this summer, and he fits the profile, capable of operating in multiple attacking positions.
The Belgian could play through the middle as well as from the left, and could provide cover for Cody Gakpo and Bradley Barcola if a deal materialises for the PSG winger.
He was part of Rudi Garcia’s Belgium squad that made it to the quarter-finals of the just concluded FIFA World Cup in North America.
