The latest on Manchester City’s Kalvin Phillips amid talk of a return to Sheffield United
Manchester City midfielder and former Leeds United star Kalvin Phillips is reportedly finalising a loan move back to Sheffield United.
The 30-year-old has endured a torrid time since his £45m move from Leeds to Manchester City back in the summer of 2022.
It has not worked out across the Pennines for the midfield battler, who has fallen away from the England fold amid a prolonged struggle for form and fitness.

Talk of a return to Bramall Lane has been doing the rounds throughout the summer and Phillips now looks to be closing in on a second move to South Yorkshire.
Kalvin Phillips deal being ‘finalised’
According to the Manchester Evening News, a loan deal for Phillips is in the process of being finalised.
The report has claimed the proposed deal is expected to go through in the coming days, giving the Yorkshireman another chance to breathe life into his career.
If he can rediscover form at Bramall Lane, he could prove to be an incredibly shrewd signing for the Blades. However, some supporters may have concerns over his injury record.
Kalvin Phillips looking to bounce back
Earlier this year, after his initial loan switch to Sheffield United, Phillips spoke candidly about his desire to get his career back on track.
He said: “Any player that's been in my situation, I think first and foremost they'll come out and say not playing has been the major reason for them maybe having a dip in their career or whatever.

“And I just feel like staying idle, so many players have done it, where they've stayed at the club for so long and not played. And then their careers have fizzled out. I didn't want that to happen.
“I still feel like I've still got some life in me. I've still got some football in me to play, and I'm looking forward to the next three or four years.”
Phillips made 234 appearances for Leeds before his high-profile exit and was part of the side that clinched the Championship title in 2020.
