Danny Welbeck is set to undergo a medical with Chelsea, sources say.
This comes after links were made with the veteran striker and the Blues.
Journalists David Ornstein, Alex Crook and Fabrizio Romano have been monitoring the news this week.
On Wednesday, July 29th, Fabrizio Romano took to X with an update. Romano wrote: "Danny Welbeck to Chelsea, here we go!
"Deal in place with Brighton for the English striker.
"Welbeck agreed terms with Chelsea until 2028, medical next; Brighton approved decision to let him go after formal request from Danny.
"Jordan Henderson: coming soon."
Another piece from reporter Nizaar Kinsella on Wednesday reads: "Chelsea have agreed a deal to sign Danny Welbeck...
"Jordan Henderson is set to cancel his Brentford contract to enable a move to Stamford Bridge.
"Henderson, 36, is under contract until 2027.
"Welbeck, 35, has agreed a two-year deal and been given permission by Brighton to conduct a medical at Stamford Bridge.
"A fee for the striker has also been agreed but remains undisclosed as Chelsea tie up the deal for him to join pre-season in Hong Kong after Chelsea's final match in Australia against Tottenham on Saturday evening."
Welbeck is set to become the oldest acquisition of the Boehly-Clearlake era.
However, Jordan Henderson will likely break that record soon after joining Chelsea.
Since joining Albion from Watford in 2020, the veteran striker has been a star for the club.
In the last two seasons, he's netted 23 league goals for The Seagulls.
For Brighton, it's a big blow. Danny brings experience and a cool head to the dressing room as well as the pitch.
Last year, Danny spoke about his leadership role at Brighton.
The former Manchester United and Arsenal frontman said: “I think for me it’s natural to help people.
“I’ve had a really good upbringing from my parents and it is instilled in me to help others around you.
“It’s only natural for me to help the younger players and everyone else around me in these situations.
“I know when I came through at Man United I had some incredible senior players who helped me every step of the way.
“They gave me a lot of advice and it seems like it has come full circle now.
“I am one of the older players so I slip into that role seamlessly.
“I am always there. I’ve got valuable experience.
“There is so much that comes into it.
“You only see the game on a Saturday. You don’t see the training sessions, you don’t see the moods that different players are in.
“I always do my best to help every single player around.”
Welbeck added: “There is a lot of talent within our squad.
“That is something we are blessed with, but a lot of the time hard work beats talent if talent doesn’t work hard.
“That’s something we have to engrain into every single member of the team.
“You can have the talent, but it will only get you so far.
“You need to have that steely determination, that grit and that desire, the right mentality."
Albion's remaining strikers are Evan Ferguson, Charalampos Kostoulas, Stefanos Tzimas and Georginio Rutter.
Both Tzimas and Ferguson are currently recovering from long-term injuries.
