Amit Bhatia's investment group are planning to take a controlling stake in Liverpool, according to reports. It was confirmed last week that the former Queens Park Rangers chief had entered talks with Fenway Sports Group (FSG) over a minority strategic stake in the 20-time English champions.
According to Bloomberg, the son-in-law of billionaire Lakshmi Mittal plans to eventually take full control of the Reds. However, at this stage they are currently negotiating for as much as a 30 percent shareholding in the football club.
Big-name investors have been linked with joining Bhatia's group, including Amazon's Jeff Bezos and Facebook co-founder Eduardo Saverin.
Sky News reported this week that Saverin, one of the masterminds behind the social media network, has been approached to join the syndicate of investors.
Talks are ongoing over a significant minority stake as part of Liverpool's pursuit of further investment into the football club following the agreement with Dynasty Equity in 2023, which was worth between £82million and £164m.
Liverpool are in the United States as part of their pre-season preparations ahead of Andoni Iraola's debut campaign at Anfield.

Following their 4-2 win over Sunderland, club icons Ian Rush and Robbie Fowler helped launch the new away kit in New York City, ahead of their friendly against Wrexham (12.30am on Thursday). Chief executive Billy Hogan was speaking to Bloomberg and provided an update on the situation on Merseyside.
He said: "I can only refer back to the statement from FSG last week that we have been approached by a consortium that's led, managed and represented by Amit Bhatia for a strategic minority investment in the club.
"And I wouldn't say anything other than that at this point."
An FSG statement last week read: "An investment consortium led, managed and represented by Amit Bhatia has expressed interest in making a strategic minority investment in Liverpool Football Club."
The Mittal family, Bhatia's in-laws, have a growing number of sports clubs in their portfolio. Lahkshmi's son, Aditya Mittal, invested $1billion to become co-owner of Boston Celtics of the NBA, while he was unsuccessful in a recent bid for American Football giants Seattle Seahawks.
Indian Premier League giants Rajasthan Royals saw a 75 percent share in the cricket franchise for $1.65bn. The news surrounding a strategic investment comes amid a period of uncertainty surrounding Liverpool with Michael Edwards leaving FSG as their CEO of football.
Sporting director Richard Hughes continues to be heavily linked with a switch to Saudi Arabia to oversee the operations at Pro League giants Al-Hilal.
