Jurrien Timber has temporarily left Arsenal’s pre-season training camp in Spain as he continues his recovery from a groin injury.
The defender has returned to London for further checks, although the visit is understood to form part of his planned rehabilitation programme.
Timber is expected to travel back to Spain and rejoin Mikel Arteta’s squad. Sources have stressed that his return to London was not prompted by a setback.

Jurrien Timber groin injury continues to be managed
The Netherlands international missed the World Cup after suffering the groin problem towards the end of last season.
Timber had already spent around two months out with an ankle injury before returning for Arsenal’s Champions League final defeat against Paris Saint-Germain. The groin issue subsequently prevented him from representing his country during the summer.
Arsenal have taken a cautious approach throughout the opening stages of pre-season. Timber rejoined the group earlier this month but had not returned to full training following minor surgery.
His absence from the Spanish camp could still leave Arteta short of established defensive options during the upcoming friendlies. William Saliba is already undergoing rehabilitation for a back injury, while Timber requires further work before he can resume unrestricted training.
ReadArsenal reported that Arsenal have considered signing Como defender Jacobo Ramon as Arteta assesses his defensive depth following Saliba’s injury.
Ben White’s return provides another senior option at right-back. Cristhian Mosquera and Piero Hincapié can also cover the position if Timber is unavailable during the early part of the campaign.
Arsenal face Manchester City in the Community Shield on 16 August before beginning their Premier League title defence against Coventry City five days later.
There is currently no suggestion that Timber will miss either fixture. However, his involvement will depend on how he responds when he resumes full training.
