Bournemouth star Eli Junior Kroupi is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines after undergoing surgery on an injury. The update comes amid continued rumours that both Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur have shown an interest in signing the promising forward.
Kroupi enjoyed an impressive full debut season in the Premier League last term, scoring 13 goals in the top flight to help Bournemouth finish sixth in the table and qualify for the Europa League.
That form saw Arsenal and Tottenham, as well as a number of clubs across Europe, reportedly expressing an interest in signing the Cherries talent this summer.
However, those rumours are now expected to evaporate after an update on the 20-year-old’s fitness.
The Athletic have reported that Kroupi has undergone surgery on a foot injury that he suffered during pre-season with Bournemouth.
The report claims that the injury happened at the club’s training camp in Austria, which forced Kroupi to return to the UK to undergo surgery on the injury.
Kroupi is reported to have undergone surgery on Wednesday and is now expected to be on the sidelines for between three and four months while he fully recovers.
As a result, a potential transfer to either Arsenal or Tottenham – as well as PSG – now appears to be extremely unlikely given the lengthy lay-off that Kroupi faces before returning to the pitch.
Arsenal have been linked with a host of potential new forwards this summer, and have been forced to reassess their targets after Morgan Rogers completed a £117million move to Chelsea from Aston Villa.

Spurs have also been tipped to go into the market for attacking reinforcements after spending the majority of the window so far addressing their defence and midfield.
Tottenham boss Roberto De Zerbi recently told football.london how the front line has now become a priority area for reinforcements for the rest of the transfer window.

“It's not finished yet, our transfer window. We have to finish,” De Zerbi said.
"The target now is to complete the attacking positions. We want the top level, because we already have important players, but I think to start a new project, we need another couple of important players for sure.
"We have to bring another couple, maybe more, maybe not less, but a couple of players. I'm very happy, I'm excited to work with the new players, with the old players.”
