Arsenal have named several academy players for their pre-season training camp in Girona.
The north London side will face Girona on Saturday evening before travelling to Dublin to face Real Betis next Wednesday.
Here are four Arsenal academy players to watch during this summer’s pre-season.
Marli Salmon: He became the fourth-youngest player to feature for the Gunners in European competition after making his first team debut in last season’s UEFA Champions League victory at Club Brugge.
The centre-back will be pushing to impress, with Arsenal looking to sign a new defender after William Saliba’s injury.
Salmon is comfortable with the ball, has an excellent passing range and defensive intelligence.
Ife Ibrahim: He made his senior debut in the UEFA Champions League clash against Kairat Almaty last term.
Ibrahim, described as a ‘dynamic midfielder‘ by the Arsenal website, also featured in the behind-closed-doors friendly against MK Dons.
The 18-year-old defensive midfielder has described himself as a player who ‘starts the attack, breaks lines, intercepts, and drives with the ball.’
Ceadach O’Neill: O’Neill enjoyed an excellent campaign last season, scoring 18 goals in 30 academy appearances. He made his international debut for Northern Ireland last month.
The promising striker grabbed his opportunity to impress Arteta, scoring against MK Dons.
O’Neill is two-footed, which makes him unpredictable. He offers a constant goalscoring threat while creating chances for his teammates.
Josh Ogunnaike: Ogunnaike recently signed his first professional contract. His inclusion in the pre-season squad shows how highly he is rated.
The 18-year-old, who can play as a left-back and a centre-back, started 31 matches for Arsenal’s academy sides last term.
He is known for his physicality, athleticism, and strong one-on-one defending.
