Outrageous if true: Liverpool preparing bid that would be 3rd biggest in history

Liverpool are reportedly preparing a bid for Bradley Barcola that would make him the third most expensive player in history if the claim is accurate.

On Monday, reports emerged claiming that Liverpool had submitted a bid worth around £103m for Barcola, but these claims were quickly dismissed by the usual top journalists.

Claims that personal terms have been agreed with Bradley Barcola are also wide of the mark, but a new report has issued a claim that Liverpool are set to submit an historic bid for Barcola.

PSG reportedly want in the region of €170m (£145m) to release Barcola to Liverpool, and while that fee is never going to be met, it’s the Parisians’ opening demand which will set the tone for the final fee if an agreement can be reached.

Liverpool ready to submit bid to PSG worth €150m for Bradley Barcola

According to a report from independent Liverpool news outlet DaveOCKOP, Liverpool are ready to launch a truly historic bid to sign Barcola, which will defy all expectations for how much the club was prepared to spend on the French winger.

The report reads: “Widespread reports suggest that PSG will hold fast on their valuation €170m, while it has been suggested by Fabrizio Romano that Liverpool will be able to negotiate this fee down.

“DaveOCKOP.com can now exclusively reveal details of Liverpool’s latest bid for the two-time Champions League winger. Liverpool is set to submit a huge proposal to Paris Saint-Germain worth a staggering €110 million (£94 million) upfront. The structure of the deal also includes performance-based bonuses, with an additional €20 million tied to domestic league success and a further €20 million linked to Champions League achievements.

“This would take the total potential value of the deal to €150 million. While no agreement has been finalised yet, the scale of the offer suggests Liverpool are prepared to push hard to get this deal over the line. With PSG now actively involved in negotiations, this is a story that could develop quickly in the coming days.”

The top 10 most expensive signings of all time

Liverpool already hold third place in this list after their €125m (€144.5m) bid to sign Alexander Isak from Newcastle United, but paying the reported fee for Barcola would mean they would have completed two of the top five most expensive transfers ever.

Neymar (€222m)

Kylian Mbappe (€145m +€35m)

Alexander Isak (€144.5m)

Joao Felix (€126m)

Enzo Fernandez (€121m)

Philippe Coutinho (€120m + €40m)

Antoine Griezmann (€120m)

Florian Wirtz (€118m +€19m)

Moisés Caicedo (€117m +€6m)

Declan Rice (€117m)

If Liverpool break into the top 10 with the Barcola signing, it will mean four of the ten most expensive signings of all time have involved Liverpool, which would be more than any other club.

As an aside, it’s kinda mental that only Neymar and Mbappe can objectively be considered massively successful from this list…

Michael first started supporting Liverpool after Istanbul in 2006. He has since followed the Reds with passion and curiosity, founding Rousing the Kop, Anfield Central while briefly co-owning Anfield Watch. Michael lives in Cape Town, South Africa.
