Marcus Rashford## Marcus Rashford's future remains a fiercely debated topic despite his imminent Manchester United return

Tottenham Hotspur have been tipped to complete a deal for Marcus Rashford as Arsenal's chances have been talked down.

The Manchester United star is set to soon reintegrate with Michael Carrick after an 18-month exodus from the Red Devils, having falling out of favour under Ruben Amorim.

TalkSPORT claim former Brighton & Hove Albion boss Roberto De Zerbi could be the tactician who gets the 28-year-old back to his best.

Speculation remains around Rashford after Barcelona opted against triggering the buyout clause to make his loan spell in Catalonia permanent, following a successful stint that saw him help Hansi Flick's side win La Liga. But reports continue to link the attacker with a move away from Old Trafford.

In June, The Athletic reported that Rashford had a secret release clause that would allow hm to leave his boyhood club for £40million to all his admirers apart from Liverpool and Manchester City, but it is said that it has expired and negotiations will need to be held directly with United.

The prospect of Rashford fitting in with Arsenal's plans has been dismissed, however, while the Gunners face a battle to sign top target Vinicius Jr from Real Madrid. Reports had suggested Jose Mourinho has intervened to keep the Brazilian in the Spanish capital.

However, football.london understands Arsenal's pursuit of Vini Jr is still very much on, with no new contract imminent.

Regarding the Gunners' chances of adding Rashford to their armoury, though, it is suggested he is not a Mikel Arteta-type player.

talkSPORT add that if he is to go anywhere in London, it is most likely to be Tottenham, with that deal possible under De Zerbi, who is an admirer.

An offer of £30million could well be accepted by United, it is claimed, although his £325,000-a-week wages at Old Trafford are a sticking point, as Rashford doesn't seem too keen to take a pay cut.

Rashford has faced speculation over a possible move to Turkey after Barcelona opted to sign the forward's England team-mate Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United for £69million.

Arsenal are light in attacking positions after the sale of Leandro Trossard to Besiktas was sanctioned, while Christos Tzolis arrived from Club Brugge. The Gunners were linked with Rashford previously too.

Meanwhile, Spurs have already had significant financial outlay in the transfer market after signing Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes.

But De Zerbi will be scouring the market for opportunities to bolster their chances of returning to Europe following last season's skirmish with relegation.
