Chelsea are one of three clubs who are showing interest in Crystal Palace wingback Daniel Munoz, according to reports.
El Universal claim that the Blues, Barcelona and AC Milan are all “following” the Colombian international.
With a move for Maxence Lacroix now wrapped up, it appears Xabi Alonso’s side are considering an approach for another Palace defender.
Adam Wharton has also been heavily linked with a switch to Stamford Bridge in recent months, but Munoz seems a more likely target if El Universal‘s information is accurate.
Munoz would be a perfect fit for Alonso’s system
The 30-year-old has thrived as a right wingback under the management of Oliver Glasner, and he could well be targeted for his suitability to play as part of a back five.
Alonso did start with a back four in his first friendly against Western Sydney Wanderers, but when asked about his system, the Spaniard said:
“We will be flexible in our tactics, in our approach, in our game plans. We have our principles; what we want can be the same, but we have tried, and we will try different ideas. It’s about updating, developing something they have done with new concepts, which each manager has.”

His arrival would raise questions about other Chelsea players
If Munoz does end up moving to the Blues, you do wonder what that would mean for Reece James, Malo Gusto and Josh Acheampong.
While you would expect James to compete with Munoz and Marco Palestra, it is very hard to see where Gusto and Acheampong would fit into things.
Gusto has attracted the attention of Manchester City, where he could link up with his former manager, Enzo Maresca, but the France international’s £75m asking price is said to be way beyond what the Cityzens would be prepared to pay.
