Everton are back in talks over the possible sale of Iliman Ndiaye, though the latest reporting suggests the deal is not as advanced as some had claimed.
Transfer journalist Sacha Tavolieri says talks between Everton and Al Hilal are underway. Personal terms are reportedly not an issue — Al Hilal have made that clear — but the fee remains the sticking point.
Everton want more than the Saudi club are currently prepared to pay. No official bid has been submitted; talks so far have been verbal only. Tavolieri says the two clubs are moving closer to an agreement.
That sits at odds with earlier reports of a £64m deal already being in place, with Ndiaye said to be heading for a medical ahead of signing a four-year contract. If Tavolieri’s version is correct, those reports were premature. Everton and Al Hilal appear to still be negotiating rather than finalising terms.
Ndiaye, 26, has been one of David Moyes’ most important attacking players since arriving from Marseille. Everton are understood to want a fee close to club-record levels before selling.
His departure would leave Moyes short of creativity in the final third, with Jack Grealish’s own future at the club also unresolved.
