Kroupi blow
While Arsenal were thought to be interested in Eli Junior Kroupi, any likelihood of a move has now diminished as a result of the Bournemouth star facing up to four months out of action through surgery on a foot injury.
The Cherries wrote: "AFC Bournemouth can confirm that Junior Kroupi has undergone successful surgery after sustaining a foot injury during a pre-season training session in Austria. The 20-year-old returned to the UK earlier this week to undergo the procedure and will consequently face a spell on the sidelines.
"Junior will now be supported by the club's medical and performance staff as he begins a period of rehabilitation. Everyone at AFC Bournemouth extends their best wishes to Junior and looks forward to seeing him back on the pitch."

William Saliba plan
CaughtOffside suggest that Arsenal are weighing up the possibility of a move for Real Madrid centre-half Raul Asencio. The Gunners are in need of reinforcement at the back given William Saliba is expected to be sidelined for an extended period owing to a back issue which flared up at the World Cup.
And 23-year-old Los Blancos star, Asencio has emerged as a potential target. It is understood that the La Liga giants are looking for around £30m to let the versatile defender leave. Asencio can also operate at full-back.

Guimaraes latest
Eddie Howe has said that Bruno Guimaraes' transfer saga with Arsenal is an "unhealthy" distraction at Newcastle United at present. The 28-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium this sumnmer, with personal terms thought to have been agreed between the player and the club.
However, no formal bid has been accepted by the Magpies just yet. And Howe has recently explained how speculation is impacting Newcastle United at present.
Speaking after a 4-1 pre-season loss to Bristol City this week, the head coach said: "Any distraction, if it's not healthy, is unhealthy. So, yeah (it would be negative for things to drag on), but we're not in control of that. And to some degree, I don't think Bruno's in control of that either."

Vinicius Jr alternative
While Arsenal are still keen on bringing in Vinicius Jr this summer, Andrea Berta is thought to also have Antonio Nusa on his shortlist should a deal fail to land. RB Leipzig are after a reported £51m for the left winger - who is just 21 years old.

Vinicius Jr. update
Arsenal have already received a boost in their pursuit of Vinicius Junior this summer from the player's agent, reports Kasra Moradi.
The Brazilian’s long-time representative, Frederico Pena, openly admitted in the past that his client would only leave Real Madrid for a Premier League club.
Arsenal, as the reigning Premier League champions, therefore become Vinicius’ most likely destination, should he opt to leave the Spanish capital.

According to BBC Sport, the Dutch defender is back in England for a pre-planned appointment that relates to the groin injury he suffered last season. Their report adds that no setback has been suffered and he will re-join the group soon.

Nico Williams transfer claim
Catalan outlet El Nacional have claimed that Arsenal want to sign Nico Williams over Vinicius Jr because of the latter's lack of defensive work.
While there is some substance to the above claims given how much Mikel Arteta likes his wingers to track back, this update is certainly surprising given what has happened over the last 12 months - so take it with a rather significant pinch of salt.
Both wingers have been strongly linked to the Gunners with Vincius being actively pursued this summer while Williams is an older target.

Arsenal signing 'imminent'
Though Arsenal are actively pursuing Bruno Guimaraes and Vinicius Jr, ESPN Brazil's Bruno Andrade has stated that a centre-back signing will be the deal wrapped up first.
Speaking to someone involved in Bruno Guimarães’ situation, Arsenal are close to signing a centre-back to solve, for now, the issue created by Saliba’s injury. They haven’t given me the name yet. I’m trying to find out so I can help our English colleagues too, but it’s a deal that will happen even faster than the Bruno Guimarães transfer. It’s really imminent.
Ezri Konsa of Aston Villa has been linked while Como's Jacobo Ramon has also emerged as an option but it remains to be seen if the incoming is either of those targets.

Vinicius Jr transfer boost
Vinicius Junior’s future remains undecided as football.london understands that it is too soon to guarantee the winger will stay with Real Madrid.
Despite claims being made that the Brazilian is set to remain at Real, this is not the picture that sources have suggested is the current reality. Talks are ongoing with Real Madrid to help determine the player’s future.

Spanish media on Vinicius
The Spanish media have also had their say on Vinicius Jr's future
AS deputy director Tomas Roncero said: "The club says there probably won't be a problem, because he intends to renew. If you talk to Vini's people, they tell you that his only wish is to stay at Madrid and leaving isn't even on his mind. But curiously, there hasn't been a single meeting for eight or nine months....

Arsenal get Vinicius Jr transfer verdict
Arsenal have been handed a positive Vinicius Jr transfer verdict by former Real Madrid goalkeeper Santi Canizares, when he was speaking on COPE's Tiempo de Juego programme.
The more noise there is about a player, the less chance he has of leaving. [But] Real Madrid are late with everything. If it's true that he doesn't have a signed agreement, Real Madrid have an obligation to sell him. You can't lose 100 or 100-plus million euros by letting a player's contract expire. I just don't believe it's going to happen. It's an unforgivable mismanagement.

According to CaughtOffside, Christian Pulisic, Ibrahim Mbaye, Brahim Diaz and Antonio Nusa are on a shortlist of players who the Gunners could turn to in the event a move for Vini is not forthcoming.
They are all different players with a mix of profile, with the Gunners reportedly keeping their options open.

Diomande truth
Any last-gasp transfer hopes of Yan Diomande joining any club other than Real Madrid have been dismissed.
Paris Saint-Germain were firmly leading the race until Real's huge approach while Arsenal made an enquiry after Morgan Rogers joined Chelsea. Liverpool registered a clear interest but he opted for a move to PSG instead.
And now Fabrizio Romano is reporting that, despite reports in France, PSG are not trying to hijack the deal and consider it to be over.

Tomiyasu next club update
After appearing in Crystal Palace's squad for the Como Cup on Tuesday evening, former Arsenal star Takehiro Tomiyasu is getting closer to joining as a free agent.

Vinicius Jr contract latest
Real Madrid reportedly retain confidence that Vinicius Jr will sign a new contract despite extension talks earlier this week not progressing.
With Los Blancos happy to keep him for another season regardless of his contract situation, the ball is very much in Arsenal's court to make a seismic offer.
They may also need some help from Vini Jr himself to either make clear his desire to join Arsenal or tell Real that he wants to leave this summer.

Konsa move
Arsenal remain interested in Ezri Konsa and have held transfer discussions for the Aston Villa star, according to The Athletic.
William Saliba's back injury is expected to keep him out for the first half of the season which has seen interest emerge in the likes of John Stones and Jacobo Ramon as well as Konsa.
Deals for the former duo are unlikely while a move for Konsa is not in a great position due to Villa being left annoyed by their apparent 'low-ball' opening offer for the defender.

Guimaraes 'agreement' claim
A positive Bruno Guimaraes transfer update for Arsenal has emerged from his home country of Brazil.
Plenty has been said about the lack of contact between Newcastle United and the Gunners but it looks as though a breakthrough is set to be made.
According to ESPN Brazil, while Arsenal's latest offer of £70m plus £5m in add-ons is below what Newcastle want to sell, there is an expectation on both sides that an agreement is likely to be reached.
