QPR are interested in Liverpool defender Luke Chambers, but the 22-year-old is doing no damage to his chances of an Anfield breakthrough.
QPR are eager to bolster their ranks with new faces this summer. Some shrewd business has already been done, and as the Hoops turn to the loan market, they’re interested in Luke Chambers of Liverpool.
The 22-year-old defender spent the second half of last season in the Championship with Charlton Athletic following spells with Kilmarnock and Wigan Athletic. He was a solid performer for the Addicks, mainly playing as a left-back or left wing-back.
Chambers has operated as a left-sided centre-back before though. And, it was in this position that he starred for Liverpool in the early hours of Thursday morning.

Chambers started for Liverpool and played 75 minutes as they faced Championship play-off hopefuls Wrexham. He was one of several youngsters fielded by Andoni Iraola, and one of a few picked out for high praise.
Speaking post-game, Iraola said: “Chambers playing as a centre-back against big bodies, he covered very well and played very well from the back.”
The QPR target had to deal with some strong Championship forwards in the friendly. Sam Smith and Davis Keillor-Dunn both started the game, while Kieffer Moore, Bailey Cadamarteri and Nathan Broadhead were all substituted on just after the hour-mark.
Chambers’ display against such forwards will impress Hoops fans. It indicates he could be a valuable, versatile asset if recruited on loan from Liverpool.
However, such was the standard of his performance that it has sparked talk of a potential Anfield stay. Local reporter Lewis Steele of the Daily Mail wrote on X: “Luke Chambers played some lovely balls too and given he can play LCB and LB, might be worth keeping around though sure there will be plenty of loan interest.”
The Verdict: QPR must remain patient in Luke Chambers interest
Chambers strong performance for Liverpool against Wrexham should fill QPR fans with hope if they can get a deal done. Although, that may now be paired by a slight feeling that he might not be available whatsoever.
His ability to cover in a range of left-sided defensive roles makes him a valuable asset. After some tough spells with injury, Chambers looks primed to establish himself as a defensive prospect to watch, and another loan to the Championship could help him do so.

It may be wise to weigh up alternative options in case a move is off the cards. However, there is no need to jump to conclusions yet as both clubs and the player himself continue to prepare for the new campaign.
