Super Eagles-eligible winger Rio Ngumoha has described his recent experience with the England senior national team as unforgettable, praising the coaching staff after scoring the winning goal in Liverpool's 1-0 victory over Wrexham in a preseason friendly in the United States.
Ngumoha, who enjoyed a breakthrough campaign with the Reds last season, once again underlined his enormous potential with another impressive performance as Liverpool continued their preparations for the 2026/2027 campaign.
The highly-rated teenager proved to be the difference between the two sides, scoring the decisive goal in the second half after his deflected effort looped over the goalkeeper and into the back of the net.
The strike secured another preseason victory for the Reds ahead of their Premier League opener against Newcastle United at St. James' Park.
However, his impressive performances over the past year also earned him a surprise invitation to the England senior squad before the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where he made his debut in a friendly victory over New Zealand.
Despite representing England in a non-competitive fixture, the talented winger remains eligible to switch his international allegiance to Nigeria under FIFA regulations.
Reflecting on his experience with the Three Lions, Ngumoha admitted the opportunity was one he would always cherish while praising the support he received from the coaching staff.
"That was a very top experience, it is something I will never forget," Ngumoha told ESPN after Liverpool's slim victory over Wrexham in the USA.
The Liverpool youngster also highlighted the welcoming environment within the England camp and expressed his appreciation for the manager and the backroom staff.
"It was special, the manager was very nice to me and all the coaching staff for England were top," he concluded
With the new season fast approaching, Ngumoha will be eager to build on his breakthrough campaign, maintain his impressive preseason form and continue his development as he pushes for more opportunities in Liverpool's first team.
