Eddie Howe is reportedly set to leave Newcastle United. The news comes amid Arsenal's pursuit of Magpies midfielder Bruno Guimaraes this summer.
The Athletic report that Howe had decided to stay at the North East club at the end of last season. However, it is said that the former Bournemouth boss has since had a change of heart and will depart in the coming days after five years in charge.
The 48-year-old has reportedly told the club he wants to take a break from football. It is said that the situation is amicable and Newcastle are well prepared for his exit.
Al Ahli manager Matthias Jaissle is reportedly being lined up as his replacement, with talks reportedly at an advanced stage. Howe will leave having guided Newcastle into the Champions League twice and a first major trophy in 70 years with the 2025 Carabao Cup.

But the Geordie side have struggled to keep their best players in recent seasons. Star striker Alexander Isak completed a British-record £125m move to Liverpool last summer and that has been followed in recent months by the departures of winger Anthony Gordon to Barcelona and midfielder Sandro Tonali to Tottenham Hotspur.
Star midfielder Guimaraes, a fan favourite at St James' Park, has been the latest player to be linked with a move away. The Gunners are reportedly set to make a £70million offer for the Brazilian, in what would be another huge blow to Newcastle.
And Howe has admitted that the Guimaraes transfer speculation is an unhealthy distraction for the Magpies. Speaking on Thursday night, he said: "Any distraction, if it's not healthy, is unhealthy.
"So, yeah [it would be negative for things to drag on], but we're not in control of that. And to some degree, I don't think Bruno's in control of that either."
Howe then introduced an intriguing dimension to proceedings, alluding to external 'forces' beyond his influence that could impact the midfielder's situation.

The 48-year-old said: "What will be, will be. We can't control the forces that are at play here, we've just got to make sure that when Bruno comes back, we look after him and he trains well, which I'm sure he will do. And he makes a difference as he always has done."
When colleagues at Chronicle Live pressed him on whether he'd sought any reassurances during their discussions in Bristol, he added: "We've spoken numerous times. Assurances? I don't think you can push too hard for those.
"I've said many times we want players who are committed, and Bruno has always been committed. His training performances and his game performances have been outstanding, every time he's worn the shirt, he's played with the fans by his side. I'd love to see that continue."

Regarding whether Guimaraes would travel with the Newcastle squad or join them in La Manga for pre-season following his return from South America, Howe responded: "The details I don't actually know, but I don't see any reason why that wouldn't be the case [him being back on Friday]."
