Rio Ngumoha’s strike earned Liverpool a narrow victory over Championship side Wrexham on Thursday morning.
The teenager impressed while playing a bit-part role for the Reds under Arne Slot last term, and was also hugely impressive for England during a pre-World Cup friendly against New Zealand in June.
Ngumoha wasn’t included in Thomas Tuchel’s squad for the showpiece in North America, but the youngster will hope to play a big role for Liverpool under Andoni Iraola during the upcoming campaign.
Away from the action, it has now emerged that the Merseyside outfit are eyeing a move to sign a forward that starred at the World Cup this summer.
As per TEAMtalk, Liverpool have initiated contact in regard to a possible move to sign Mexican forward Gilberto Mora.
The report claims that the Reds have been in direct contact with the 17-year-old’s representatives, assessing whether or not a move may be possible.

Mora currently plays for Mexican side Club Tijuana, having graduated from their academy.
He has already played 54 times for the club at senior level across all competitions, scoring 11 goals and registering two assists.
Mora also impressed for co-hosts Mexico at the World Cup this summer, featuring in four of their five matches at the tournament.
German side Borussia Dortmund, Spanish champions Barcelona and Portuguese outfit Benfica are said to currently be leading the race to sign Mora, but Liverpool are also said to have registered interest in the teenager.
Mora primarily operates centrally as an attacking midfielder, playing in similar areas to current Liverpool star Florian Wirtz.
The Mexico international’s current contract with Tijuana is set to run until the end of 2029, but it appears that several of Europe’s biggest clubs are circling.
