Another domino falling with Leeds United on the verge of signing James Trafford.
Manchester City are reportedly eyeing an experienced Argentina international keeper to replace James Trafford as he closes in on his Leeds United move.
Leeds are on the verge of breaking their transfer record to sign Trafford as their new no 1 in a deal that is set to be worth £40m plus add-ons.
City signed Trafford from Burnley last summer but the club also brought in Gianluigi Donnarumma which eventually left Trafford as the club’s new 2.
But his impending move to Leeds will leave the club needing a new back-up stopper and Fabrizio Romano is reporting that City want Marseille’s Argentina capped keeper Geronimo Rulli to replace Trafford.
Rulli, 34 is understood to be keen on the mov and Marseille are aware of the interest.
As of Wednesday evening, the Leeds deal was not fully done but with club sources feeling positive that it will complete, as per chief reporter Graham Smyth.
Trafford is currently on holiday as part of his FIFA-mandated post-World Cup break, which is due to end after August 8.
Leeds, though, have set a transfer precedent this summer however with the £34m signing of Tarik Muharemovic, who interrupted his holiday to fly into West Yorkshire to undergo a medical and complete the move and then flew back out to resume his break.
