Brighton and Brentford target Kaishu Sano
Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool have received encouragement to sign Kaishū Sano, after 1. FSV Mainz 05 sporting director Christian Heidel opened the exit door.
At the start of this month, Sport Witness covered claims from Japan that the Reds could offer €60m for the midfielder.
Bild now relays claims about Liverpool and also mentions Arsenal and Tottenham. The two north London clubs are in the running to sign the Japan international.
There’s also claims of Newcastle United interest. However, none of his suitors have made advances so far.
Director on working discreetly
On July 3rd, Christian Heidel confirmed there’s interest in the 25-year-old and even talked about a potential England move.
He said: “There’s no doubt there are interested parties. It’s well known that England is the league where outstanding players usually move. Our big advantage is that the player still has a long-term contract, so we’re under no pressure at all and won’t be rushing anything.”
Bild now interviewed the 1. FSV Mainz 05 sporting director, who talked about the need of being discreet with their transfer negotiations.
“You know that we like to prepare transfers in such a way that the public only finds out about them when we announce them. And most of the time we succeed,” he said.
The magazine says not much has been leaked about Kaishū Sano, and mentions Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool as his suitors.
Official responds to transfer links
Christian Heidel didn’t directly mention Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur or Liverpool while responding to the transfer links.
The official explained what type of offers the Bundesliga side will consider for Kaishū Sano.
“I won’t comment on any rumours or any of the clubs mentioned. We don’t have to sell Kaishū; we can afford to keep him,” Heidel explained.
“If he stays, there will be many happy people in the team, the club, and everywhere around it. But it’s like always at Mainz 05. Should an offer come in that takes our breath away, we’ll have to consider it!”
Sano’s contract is until 2028, and Transfermarkt value him at €50m. There’s been a €10m raise after starring for Japan at the World Cup.
Spurs are unlikely to make an attempt for Sano, having already signed Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali. That may not be the case with Arsenal or Liverpool this summer.
