With Ifeanyi Ndukwe unable to play for Liverpool this season, the 18-year-old centre-back is already attracting loan interest from a host of elite sides.
Ndukwe became the first player to clock a full 90 minutes in pre-season under Andoni Iraola as the summer signing lasted the game against Wrexham.
Coming up against a physical Championship side he more than held his own at the back, helping to keep a clean sheet alongside two different centre-back partners – first Luke Chambers and then Mor Talla Ndiaye.
He does so knowing he cannot represent Liverpool in an official capacity this season, having failed to qualify for a UK work permit.
The original plan had been for Ndukwe to spend the first six months adjusting to life on Merseyside as part of the first team before any decision was made on a loan, but the 18-year-old will now head out immediately.

His availability has already alerted a number of sides in Europe, with a representative from his agency More than Sport by AS1 confirming interest in an interview with Sky Sport Austria.
“Despite this change, we see the situation as a great opportunity for Ifeanyi. Several top international clubs have already expressed concrete interest in a loan,” the source explained.
“Regardless of which path he chooses, he will have the opportunity to gain regular playing time at the highest level – a prospect that would not have been guaranteed to the same extent in his first few months at Liverpool.”
It is maintained that Liverpool had not planned to keep Ndukwe with the U21s if he had secured a work permit, and that all parties were aware of the situation upon his £2.6 million move from Austria Vienna.

An initial half-season loan could now be agreed but the club are also open to a full-season agreement, with no option to buy considered.
Liverpool are “100 percent committed” to Ndukwe’s development and “plan with him, because he has already demonstrated his potential.”
The player’s agency added: “These recent developments give Ifeanyi the opportunity to gain valuable experience at the highest international level, receive consistent playing time and consistently advance his sporting development.”
While any move will depend on the scale of interest, Liverpool are likely to seek a loan to a club in one of Europe’s top five leagues, such as the Bundesliga, in order to boost the chances of securing a work permit.
