Liverpool are believed to have made contact over the signing of highly-rated Mexico teenager Gilberto Mora, with 15 clubs keen on snapping him up this summer.
The 17-year-old was arguably one of the standout players at the 2026 World Cup, making three starts and not remotely looking out of place up against more experienced midfielders.
Mora has been linked with a move to Liverpool in recent weeks, as his stock continues to rise, and it looks as though their interest isn’t going away at all.
According to TEAMtalk, the Reds have “made direct contact with the representatives” of the Club Tijuana midfielder, who is described in the report as “one of the most sought-after talents in world football.”
Borussia Dortmund, Barcelona and Benfica are among the other clubs to have “initiated formal approaches” to Mora’s agent, with Liverpool and Arsenal the Premier League clubs showing the most willingness to make a move for him.

Mora is a wanted player for a reason, with his quality and maturity already so impressive at the age of 17, as he showed at the World Cup, completing 90.7% of his passes.
The Mexican may be diminutive in frame, but he combines technical ability with tenacity off the ball, and coach Andre Jardine has waxed lyrical over his ability, saying:
“I’ve dedicated my life to working with young talent in youth systems, and it’s rare to see a player like him. Mexico has a gem here, it’s not normal to see a player like that, he is an exceptional player. He possesses great character, is taking full advantage of his national team experience, and he’s undoubtedly special. I believe he embodies a bright future for Mexican soccer.”
Mora wouldn’t come in a starter for Liverpool from the off, given his age and the fact he would need to adjust to the Premier League, but he would be an outstanding long-term option for Andoni Iraola.
He has the potential to grow into a world-class midfielder eventually, assuming he remains grounded and avoids serious injury, and the Reds beating many other clubs to his signature would be a major coup.
