Liverpool fans are clamouring for Calvin Ramsay to start the campaign as first-choice right-back after another impressive pre-season display.
Ex-Aberdeen starlet Ramsay has had to wait patiently for opportunities at Anfield since his £4.2million move in June 2022.
Now 22, the Scotland cap has made just four senior appearances for the Reds and has spent time out on four separate loan spells.
But whenever Ramsay has been given an opportunity, he has shown glimpses of his potential and quality.
He followed up his excellent assist in Saturday's 4-2 friendly victory over Sunderland with another encouraging display during his 63-minute cameo against Wrexham on Thursday night.
With Conor Bradley sidelined through injury, Jeremie Frimpong and Ramsay are Andoni Iraola's only fit right-back options.
And after ex-Celtic star Frimpong failed to fully convince during his first season at Anfield, many Liverpool supporters believe Ramsay has earned his chance.
One insisted: "Calvin Ramsay has to start ahead of every other right-back in the squad right now. He's very comfortable on the ball, solid defensively, and an excellent passer."
Another said: "Thoughts on Calvin Ramsay being our new rb instead of buying one ? I think he’s been decent tbf and imo he seems better than Frimpong."
A third remarked: "Seriously, what was Slot’s problem with Calvin Ramsay last season? He’s a perfectly competent RB yet Slot treated him like he was diseased."
One other added: "I don’t know if this is a controversial take or not, but I’m starting the season with Calvin Ramsay as a starter in place of Frimpong. Ramsay had put in a really solid performance against Crystal Palace in the FA Cup, and he got completely sidelined for the rest of the season by Slot for no reason whatsoever."
Speaking to Redmen TV, Ramsay admitted he is still unsure what the future holds, with another loan move remaining a possibility.
However, the defender made it clear he has no intention of giving up on his dream of making it at Liverpool.
He said: "It's been good. It's been really intense. But we've all enjoyed it. I don't know what the plan (whether he stay or leave) will be yet but whatever happens, happens. I need to make sure I work hard."
Ramsay was effectively frozen out by former boss Arne Slot last season, but when asked whether he was frustrated by his lack of opportunities, he added: "Not really. I knew I'm still part of the biggest football club in the world. So even if I was playing with U-21s, I was training with the first team. It was good."
