Former Liverpool manager Arne Slot has emerged as a candidate for a vacant managerial position in the Saudi Pro League.
The Dutchman has been without a club since leaving Liverpool at the end of the 2025/26 season. His two-year spell at Anfield included a Premier League title in his first campaign, but a disappointing title defence ultimately led to his departure following the conclusion of the season.

Since leaving Merseyside, Slot has been linked with several high-profile vacancies across Europe. However, his next move could now take him to Saudi Arabia, with fresh reports suggesting he is under consideration for one of the league’s leading managerial roles.
According to talkSPORT, Slot has emerged as one of the leading candidates to replace Matthias Jaissle at Al Ahli. The report comes after Jaissle was identified as the frontrunner to become Newcastle United’s new head coach following Eddie Howe’s decision to step down.
Jaissle is expected to leave Al Ahli after a successful spell with the Saudi Pro League side.
During his time at the club, the German guided Al Ahli to consecutive AFC Champions League Elite titles and established himself as one of the most highly regarded young coaches in world football.
His anticipated move to Newcastle follows reports that Howe has chosen to leave St James’ Park after nearly five years in charge.
The former Bournemouth manager is understood to have informed the club of his decision after discussions over his future, with Newcastle now moving quickly to appoint a successor before the start of the new Premier League season.
According to talkSPORT, Slot is one of two leading candidates being considered by Al Ahli. Former Wolverhampton Wanderers and Nottingham Forest manager Vitor Pereira is also on the Saudi club’s shortlist as they prepare for Jaissle’s expected departure.
Arne Slot remains one of the most experienced coaches currently available on the market. Despite his exit from Liverpool, he enhanced his reputation by winning the Premier League title during his first season at Anfield after replacing Jurgen Klopp, before enduring a more difficult second campaign that ended without silverware.
The 47-year-old has previously been linked with jobs at Fulham, AC Milan and the Netherlands national team since becoming a free agent. However, a move to Saudi Arabia is now a realistic possibility as Al Ahli begin planning for life after Jaissle.
