The latest transfer headlines involving Pompey’s Championship rivals.

It’s been a busy summer in the window for Pompey as John Mousinho shapes his squad for the new Championship campaign.

The Blues have already recruited six new faces in the market, with Odin Bailey, Eoin Kenny, Rocco Shein, Luke Brooke-Smith, Marko Milovanovic and Daniel Bielica making the switch.

There are expected to be further arrivals before September 2, with a number of key positions still requiring some surgery.

While Pompey have been finalising incomings, there have already been a couple of outgoings during the window so far.

Elsewhere, gossip and speculation remains rife across the Championship as clubs continue their summer spending.

Here’s the latest transfer headlines involving the Blues’ second-tier rivals.

Sheffield United finalising Manchester City agreement

It was an underwhelming 2025-26 Championship campaign at Bramall Lane as Sheffield United fell 13 points short of the play-offs in 13th.

Chris Wilder is looking to avoid another repeat of their struggles next term and have wasted no time in conducting their business.

Having already completed the signings of Wolves’ Matt Doherty on a free transfer and Romelle Donovan on loan from Brentford, the Blades are closing in on their third summer arrival.

The Manchester Evening News have claimed out-of-favour Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips is poised to seal his return to the Steel City.

The report suggests a loan deal is being finalised, which will see the 30-year-old pen a season-long agreement at Bramall Lane.

Chris Wilder was keen to reunite with the 31-cap England international, who spent the second half of the campaign on loan with Sheffield United.

It was a frustrating stay for Phillips last term, with his Blades stay heavily affected by injury.

This limited the former Leeds United man to just three Championship outings at Bramall Lane and was sent off in his final appearance in February.

The 2022 arrival has no future with Manchester City, despite still holding two years on his current Etihad Stadium terms.

Following his £42m move from Elland Road four years ago, Phillips has only registered 32 appearances in all competitions - of which two have come from the start in the Premier League.

Having featured against Pompey for Wilder’s side in February, the midfielder will face the Blues at Fratton Park once again in October.

Derby County are zeroing in on another transfer target, having already secured the signings of Charlie Taylor, Bobby Clarke and Filip Bilbija.

The Rams reportedly now have Crystal Palace midfielder David Ozoh firmly in their sights following an impressive loan stay at Pride Park last term.

Transfer guru Alan Nixon has revealed John Eustace’s side are looking to strike a £5m deal with the Eagles to land the 21-year-old on a permanent basis.

It is believed the Rams boss has identified the classy operator as a potential target once again after a successful stint on loan.

Ozoh was a regular operator at Pride Park last term, appearing 35 times in all competitions as Eustace’s side narrowly missed out on the play-offs.
