Arsenal Are Now ‘Confident’ Of Sealing Move For Newcastle United Star Within Days After ‘Agreement’ Is Revealed

Newcastle United and captain Bruno Guimaraes have had a “friendly agreement” in place related to his sale for several years, according to reports.
ESPN Brasil claim the the midfielder was promised at the end of 2023 that he could leave if the Magpies were not playing Champions League football by the 2026/27 season.
After finishing 12th, Guimaraes was expecting his departure to be sanctioned by the board, but he has been left frustrated with how the situation has been handled so far.
It is believed that three separate bids from Arsenal have been rejected – the latest worth £75m. However, ESPN report that the Gunners are still “confident” that a breakthrough will be found.
The transfer saga could end sooner rather than later
Arsenal are said to be hoping to have a deal wrapped up by the beginning of August, with the Premier League champions not seeking to drag things out any longer.
The first verbal offer from Mikel Arteta’s side was made via intermediaries well over a month ago.
The Guimaraes situation has hastened Howe’s Newcastle exit
Many journalists have been briefed on why manager Eddie Howe has decided to quit after five years in the job. Most have suggested it was an amicable parting of ways.
The 48-year-old had reportedly been willing to carry on initially but changed his mind a few weeks ago. He stayed on until a replacement could be found – Al-Ahli’s Matthias Jassle.
However, The Telegraph reporter Luke Edwards has suggested that the failure to land top transfer targets and the departure of key players may have tipped Howe over the edge. The decision to sell Guimaraes is said to have been the “final straw”, as well as the failure to sign Johan Manzambi.
