Pedro Neto may leave Chelsea soon. Former manager Enzo Maresca wants the player at Manchester City for the upcoming season.
Neto to reunite with former Chelsea manager at Man City?
As reported by DailyMail, Enzo Maresca wants to bring Neto to Etihad Stadium by the next season. The Sky Blues are working on a deal for the 26-year-old right winger. Apart from Neto, **Chelsea**players like Enzo Fernandez and Malo Gusto are also on Man City’s wishlist.
Neto joined Chelsea in 2024. Before that, he was part of Wolverhampton Wanderers. He played for the club between 2019 and 2024. Previously he played for Braga between 2017 and 2019. He also played for Lazio in between under a brief loan spell.
Neto’s stats for the 2025-26 season, as per FOTMOB:
Competitions Matches Goals Assists
Premier League 34 5 6
FA Cup 6 4 2
UEFA Champions League 8 0 1
FIFA Club World Cup 6 3 0
Will Neto be a good fit at Man City?
Neto is a brilliant winger who is well known for tactical versatility. He is also capable as an attacking midfielder. These are some of the reasons why Man City want him by their side for the 2026-27 season.
Manchester City performed well last year. Apart from finishing in second place at the Premier League, the Sky Blues also won the FA Cup and the EFL Cup. However, new manager Maresca knows that merely being good is not enough. The Sky Blues need to be the best, especially if they want to make it big in European football next season.
Maresca took over from Pep Guardiola in May 2026. Guardiola managed Man City from 2016 to 2026. He led the Sky Blues to unprecedented heights in his tenure. Maresca has a huge responsibility on his shoulders. He has to ensure that the Sky Blues maintain the winning momentum in the 2026-27 season.
What’s next for Pedro Neto?
Neto will be currently resting for a while before resuming practice for the next **football**season. He was part of the Portuguese squad that made it to the 2026 World Cup. Portugal made it to the Round of 16 stage. However, they lost to Spain 1-0. Spain went on to win their first World Cup title in 16 years. They defeated defending champions Argentina 1-0 in extra time.
After the World Cup, he needs to work on both his fitness as well as his discipline. He suffered multiple muscle injuries last year, including a groin injury in November 2025. Apart from that, he was also served a red card last year in the Premier League. That’s not a good sign for someone who wants to make it big in European football.
Meanwhile Man City are also looking out for other reliable players. Apart from Fernandez and Gusto, the Sky Blues are also looking out for Ayyoub Bouaddi for the next season. They have already signed Elliot Anderson in a major deal for £116 million ahead of the 2026-27 season.
Meanwhile Neto has been of great help to Chelsea ever since he joined the club a couple of years ago. Undoubtedly, the West London club won’t let him out easily for a cheap deal. However, Man City aren’t the ones to give up either. Having managed Chelsea earlier, Maresca knows what works well for both clubs. If he has made up his mind, Neto might join Man City by next year.
