Bruno Guimaraes## Arsenal are understood to be close to meeting Newcastle United's expectations of a fee to unlock the sale of Bruno Guimaraes following the expected departure of Eddie Howe

Arsenal’s drawn out saga involving Bruno Guimaraes is headed in a positive direction for the north London club, football.london understands. Discussions, which have been ongoing with the help of intermediaries, look closer to finally bringing about a conclusion.
There has been a sense that for the club to get a deal done with Newcastle United, the figure they would need to pay would have to hit at least £80million. Arsenal have been considering the structure of such a deal and how add-ons can help them meet the Magpies’ expectations regarding the fee.
While the club are believed to be heading in a direction above their initial valuation of Guimaraes, the inflated transfer window has given the club little choice if they want to land the midfield target.

Mikel Arteta spoke this week of the club needing to find players that would elevate the squad and that if they wanted to achieve their goals, they would need to add better individual players to the existing group.
“A lot is happening," Arteta told the Arsenal website. "We all know about the context of this transfer window.
“From ownership to the board, the sporting director and myself, we know that we want to take this club to a different level. That is going to require a better squad, better individuals.
“We have identified where we have opportunities to grow and to improve and to evolve our game and what is going to be needed to achieve that. Hopefully, very soon we can start to put things in a very concrete way.”
Eddie Howe’s departure from Newcastle will see yet another high-profile individual leave the club. Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali, who Arsenal held an interest in but are understood to have been unwilling to meet the financial demands of a potential fee, have also since left.

Arsenal are also keen on Vinicius Junior and see the Brazilian’s contract situation at Real Madrid as a potential market opportunity. With one year remaining on his contract, football.london have been told the Gunners are ready to pounce on the potential to sign the Brazilian if a new deal is not agreed with Real.
Despite claims that the player is set to stay, it is understood at this stage that it is too early to say. Although Los Blancos remain keen to secure the winger to a new deal, talks upon his return from his summer break are set to find an outcome either way.
