Following a disappointing World Cup campaign, Carlo Ancelotti has made it clear that sweeping changes are coming to the Brazilian national team.
Brazil’s 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign ended in heartbreak, falling far short of their ambitions. After topping Group C undefeated with wins over Haiti and Scotland alongside a draw with Morocco, the Selecao edged past Japan 2-1 in the Round of 32.
However, their journey collapsed in the Round of 16 against Norway. Despite a late penalty from Neymar, a double from Erling Haaland handed Brazil a crushing 2-1 defeat.
The early knockout triggered widespread disappointment across Brazil, prompting calls for an immediate reset and a complete overhaul of the national squad.

Carlo Ancelotti brings in new Brazil rule for over 30s
After such a disappointing 2026 World Cup, Carlo Ancelotti is focused on identifying new names to form the basis of the team that will compete in the 2028 Copa America.
Speaking via Jornal da Paraiba, the Brazil boss announced he’s set to basically ban players over 30.
“I think that with this World Cup ends a generation of important players. Starting with Neymar, going through Danilo, Casemiro and all the players who in the World Cup were over 30 years old. We will map out the new players who can come in.”
This is ironic, especially after Ancelotti called up Neymar to his Brazil squad at the expense of Joao Pedro.

Joao Pedro to get his opportunity with Brazil
Carlo Ancelotti declaring the end of Brazil’s old guard changes everything for Joao Pedro. For years, breaking into the squad meant waiting behind established players, but with veterans stepping aside, the slate is wiped clean.
Joao Pedro brings precisely what a modern Brazil needs: versatility, technical brilliance, and dynamic movement. He isn’t just a traditional finisher; he links play, creates things out of nothing, and presses relentlessly.
Now it’s over to Pedro to build on his impressive first season at Chelsea.
