Cody Gakpo linked to Tottenham as wingers ‘targeted’ – Latest Liverpool FC News

Cody Gakpo has again been linked to Tottenham, with Roberto De Zerbi wanting more wingers, and Harvey Elliott has spoken about his future.

Cody Gakpo linked to Tottenham

Not for the first time this summer, rumours of Tottenham being interested in Gakpo have surfaced.

Speaking on his podcast, transfer reporter Fabrizio Romano said to “still keep an eye on Tottenham and Cody Gakpo because he’s a player they still like.”

Adding to the rumours were De Zerbi’s comments: “The target now is to complete the attacking positions.

“We want the top level, because we already have important players, but I think to start a new project, we need another couple of important players for sure.”

Any sale of Gakpo would surely hinge on Liverpool being able to sign at least two attackers of their own.

While he didn’t perform well last season, the Reds are already short of wingers and would need to buy before selling the Dutchman.

Didn’t stay up late too watch Liverpool vs. Wrexham? We don’t blame you. Thankfully, James Nalton did and has provided a rundown of the 1-0 win’s key talking points:

“Big-name first-team players were few and far between in the lineup in New York, which may have disappointed the fans who had paid a considerable amount of money for a ticket, but they will not have been disappointed with the performance of Dominik Szoboszlai.

“The Hungarian was playing a box-to-box role, and immediately looks like the most comfortable player in Andoni Iraola’s system.

“The captain on the night was heavily involved throughout, from deep build-up play to being on the edge of the area to make probing passes or taking shots.”
