Liverpool are now stepping up their efforts to sign a World Cup talent as they look to spark their summer window to life. The Reds have been relatively quiet in the summer window so far, but they are expected to do plenty of business over the course of the next few weeks.
Andoni Iraola has the benefit of working with a squad that received heavy investment last summer, but to play his attacking style of play, there are players he wants and needs to add. Víctor Muñoz has been snapped up, but the Reds need an elite winger to replace Mo Salah with talks underway to sign Bradley Barcola, according to GMS sources, and they may well add depth to their midfield.
In the meantime, club scouts will continue to keep an eye on some of the best talent on the globe, and talks are now said to be ongoing over the signing of a player who safely fits into that category.

Liverpool have been linked with a move for Mexico talent Gilberto Mora for much of the summer, with the 17-year-old having been one of a number of young talents who impressed at this summer's World Cup. Mora helped Mexico reach the Round of 16 stage, where they were beaten by Mexico after an entertaining battle at the Azteca.
The 'fearless' 17-year-old currently plays for Club Tijuana in his home country, but clubs are queuing up for his signature. According to TeamTalk, Liverpool have now made 'direct contact' over a potential deal, even though the move would not be made official until October, when Mora turns 18, per FIFA regulations.
Arsenal, Barcelona, Real Madrid and many others have also been linked with a move, as well as a host of others around Europe, but the Reds are said to be pushing to get to the front of the queue by formalising their interest. There has been talk of an £18.7million buyout clause, but it is not certain how much Mora will cost this summer.

Mexico boss Javier Aguirre has praised Mora relentlessly for the last year, and at the Gold Cup in 2025, he said of the versatile attacking midfielder: "He's the kind of Mexican player who knows what to do before the ball arrives, who always knows where to position himself to make himself available to his teammates, who doesn't shy away from physical battles or one-on-one duels if the match requires it, and who isn't selfish with the ball. They're different players... and we don't have many like them."
He added: "This kid has no ceiling. He's a rough diamond—we all have to help polish him."
