Liverpool fans have wondered if Alexis Mac Allister will be at his best after unveiling that he underwent a hair transplant.
Back in March, Mac Allister surprised fans when he was seen sporting a shaved head for the first time in his career. The 27-year-old posted the images on Instagram with the caption: "Like father like son," while tagging his dad, former professional soccer star Carlos Mac Allister.
“I was a bald guy with hair, and now I’m a bald guy with a bald head. I had to go down fighting; things were getting tough. I’ve said I did it for my dad, but I think it’s more for my daughter,” Mac Allister said at the time. Now, with the World Cup wrapped up, Mac Allister has unveiled a fresh new look.
The Argentina international was pictured sporting a scar from a hair transplant while signing autographs at an airport, and while he is happy with the decision to reinvigorate his hair and look, Liverpool fans are concerned about Mac Allister’s inability to head the ball properly as his latest surgery heals.
“Great, our center mid can’t head a ball for 2 months and the season starts in 24 days,” one fan lamented. Another wrote: “Nice so he can’t head the ball for the next few months which was one of the only things he still had going for him.”
“Macca prioritising the hairline over headers with the season 24 days away is peak footballer behaviour,” posted another. However, some fans suggested the midfielder will be fine, writing: “Half of footballers ignore that rule anyways, Rooney played like not to far after his one.”
Mac Allister has been eyeing a transplant for some time. Speaking back in March, he said: “We’ll see if we can plant a bit more after the World Cup. Right now, time is a bit of a constraint. But I’m really happy, I feel like I’m better off than before. Let’s see if there’s a little sponsorship deal.”

After a challenging Premier League campaign with Liverpool, which ended with the Reds finishing a disappointing fifth in their title defense, Mac Allister linked up with Argentina for the country's World Cup defense in North America. He played a key role throughout the tournament, helping his nation secure several memorable victories, including a semifinal win over England.
However, Argentina was unable to retain its crown after suffering a 1-0 extra-time defeat to Spain in the final. Mac Allister is now enjoying some time off before returning to Merseyside, where he is expected to face questions over his future amid reports linking him with a move to Real Madrid.
Mac Allister still has two years remaining on his current Liverpool contract, although the club is yet to open talks with the Argentina international over a potential new deal. But his father, Carlos, has made it clear that the midfielder's future remains at Liverpool.
Speaking to 365Scores after the World Cup final, Carlos insisted his son is committed to continuing his career on Merseyside. “We have not spoken to any Real Madrid official. What is being circulated about us holding talks with Real Madrid is not true,” he said.

“Alexis is still on a two-season contract with Liverpool. Currently, he'll get some rest for a few days and then go back to playing in the Premier League; that's the current situation.”
Having defeated Wrexham in New York, Liverpool will face Leeds, Monaco, and Como in preseason friendlies ahead of the Premier League season, which begins against Newcastle at St. James’ Park on August 23.
