It’s proving to be an agonising wait for Leeds United, but it does appear that James Trafford will be a United player sooner rather than later.
The Whites are reportedly paying an initial £40million for his services, with £5million in add-ons. On top of this, Manchester City are also reported to have a sell-on clause in the deal.
According to the Yorkshire Evening Post’s Graham Smyth, the deal is not fully done. But people within the club are confident that the deal will be completed sooner rather than later.
As well as this, Fabrizio Romano has also reported something that is a telltale sign that Leeds are about to sign Trafford.

According to Romano on X, Man City want Geronimo Rulli to be their new backup goalkeeper to replace Trafford.
The 34-year-old Argentinian is currently at Marseille, with the French outfit aware of City’s interest in the shot-stopper.
So for any Leeds fans getting worried about the Trafford saga dragging on, it appears these fears can be put to rest.
Man City have clearly resigned themselves to losing the 23-year-old this summer. So on paper at least, we have nothing to worry about.
However, with pre-season preparations already underway, having Trafford confirmed as a Leeds player soon would be nice. That way, he can link up with his new teammates when his FIFA-mandated post-World Cup break ends on August 8.

In the same report, Smyth claimed United are closing in on a deal for Trafford; he also revealed that Leeds are expected to bring in another ‘keeper to be his backup.
Hopefully, in the coming days we begin to see some names become concretely linked with the Whites. At the minute, it seems to be all quiet on that front.
A deal for a backup goalie shouldn’t be complicated, you would imagine.
This news also appears to be the final nail in the coffin for Lucas Perri’s Leeds career.
The Brazilian is expected to join Torino, and whilst he showed flashes of brilliance during United’s FA Cup run last season, ultimately, he was not good enough when he played in the Premier League.
