That explains the club’s strong push for Guimaraes, a midfielder who already knows the Premier League inside out and could improve Arsenal immediately.
Spending another £77 million after completing a deal of similar value would stretch resources unnecessarily. Arsenal still lack proven depth behind Bukayo Saka and could strengthen the left wing with a genuine match-winner instead.

Chasing City’s valuation after committing heavily to Guimaraes would damage squad balance far more than it would improve it. Sometimes the smartest transfer decision is recognising when another club hold every meaningful advantage.
