Maxence Lacroix has been confirmed as Chelsea’s latest arrival and the third signing of the Xabi Alonso era, aside from the four pre-arranged deals agreed before Alonso’s appointment.
Chelsea have spent £52m to sign Lacroix, meaning the Blues have already splashed north of £200m on the players signed since Alonso arrived. Morgan Rogers cost a record £117m, £47m on Marco Palestra.

Dastan Satpayev set Chelsea back a tiny fee, while Denner joined from Corinthians. Emmanuel Emegha is expected to have cost little over £20m, while Geovany Quenda cost similar to the outlay on Palestra.
Below, we rank Chelsea’s seven new additions made this summer, both before Alonso’s arrival and since. At the time of writing, Jordan Henderson, Valentin Barco and Danny Welbeck had not been confirmed.

7. Denner
With add-ons, it is believed Chelsea have spent in the region of £11m on Denner. The young Brazilian has joined from Corinthians and is expected to link up with Chelsea’s second string. But he’s yet to be seen.
Of all seven signings, he is expected to have the smallest impact on the first team. It would come as no surprise to see Denner sent out on loan in due course, even if Chelsea need to sign a new left-back.
6. Emmanuel Emegha
Chelsea and Strasbourg arranged a move for Emegha before the Dutchman’s injuries, believed to be around £23m. The question is, did Chelsea actually need to sign another striker in Emegha’s profile?

He scored goals against Crawley and Bromley, but has missed the trip to Australia through injury. With Danny Welbeck due to arrive, it suggests that Xabi Alonso is not overly convinced by Emegha.
5. Dastan Satpaev
Satpaev is not officially a Chelsea player yet. Still 17, Chelsea cannot confirm his arrival until he turns 18 in a fortnight. It saw the Kazakhstan star named as a trialist against Western Sydney Wanderers on Tuesday.
But this looks to be a decent signing. Still a rookie, he scored Chelsea’s first in the 6-4 win and the Blues got him for around £4m. Alonso knew about him before his move and it has the potential to be good.
4. Geovany Quenda
Quenda was recently ranked the ninth-best teenager in world football, with Estevao in second. But the Blues have spent a big amount to land the Portuguese ace, believed to be north of the £40m mark.
Following his signing, like Emegha, he suffered an injury on loan at Sporting. Whether he has what it takes to rival Estevao and Pedro Neto on the right wing remains to be seen – and whether he can prove his fee.

3. Marco Palestra
This is a proper signing. Beating Inter Milan to his signature, Chelsea struck a £47m deal to land the right-back from Atalanta and there is huge hype around him. Not least, due to his enormous speed out wide.
Serie A’s Defender of the Year for 2025-26, Palestra still has plenty to prove after ultimately, one good season in the top flight on loan at Cagliari. But Palestra is a real gem and he has enormous potential.
2. Morgan Rogers
Signing Rogers was a real signal of intent, a moment where Chelsea reminded the Premier League that they mean business. No-one expected Chelsea to beat Arsenal to the signing of Rogers, and they did.

But they have done so for a club-record £117m, making Rogers the most expensive Englishman in history. There is a massive weight on Rogers’ shoulders and while he should perform, he absolutely has to.
1. Maxence Lacroix
In this current climate, a market where Jan Paul van Hecke is going for north of £50m, landing Lacroix for £52m is stunning business. This is a ready-made, proven Premier League star entering his peak years.
At the end of the season, centre-back was Chelsea’s biggest problem. But with Levi Colwill back and now, Lacroix signed for ultimately, a bit of a bargain, Chelsea now have one of the Premier League’s best duos.
