West Ham United maintain a long-term interest in signing Arsenal winger Reiss Nelson, according to ExWHUEmployee.
The Hammers were relegated from the Premier League after a 14-year stay last term, but they will be eager to secure immediate promotion.
Ahead of their Championship campaign, the east London outfit are eyeing a left winger and prefer someone with English top-flight experience.
Nelson has been a long-term target for the Hammers, and the Gunners graduate would prefer the opportunity to continue in London.
The opportunity to play regularly for the Hammers could be a tempting prospect for him despite their recent relegation to the second tier.
Nelson could join another London club
The 26-year-old has been out of favour with the Gunners. His last appearance came as a substitute during the 2-0 win over Aston Villa on the road in August 2024.
He has since spent time on loan at Fulham and Brentford. He showed promise at the Cottagers (488 league minutes), but his season was disrupted by a lengthy hamstring injury.
At the Bees, it simply did not work out for him. Nelson was regularly an unused substitute and managed just 118 minutes of league action under manager Keith Andrews.
Nelson is presently on the radar of Valencia and Benfica. Marco Silva previously managed him at Fulham, and a reunion at Benfica could be a tempting prospect for the Gunners ace.
However, we won’t be surprised if Nelson is prepared to drop down to the Championship with the Hammers, provided he is offered an assured starting spot on the left wing.
Nelson has already entered the final year of his Arsenal contract, and the Gunners may have to sell him for a knockdown transfer sum. A £10m fee would represent fair business.
