Man Utd have identified a new alternative if they fail to land Newcastle’s Lewis Hall this summer, according to reports.
TEAMtalk claim that Racing Santander’s Jorge Salinas is a “leading” target, and he is on the market for a pretty low price.
It is believed that the Spanish youth international will be sold if a team is willing to pay €16m (£13.7m).

Barcelona have reportedly tabled an €8m offer for the teenager, but that is well below what Santander are prepared to accept.
Atletico Madrid have also registered their interest in Salinas, so United would need to see off both teams if they want to secure the defender’s services before the transfer window closes.

What is the latest on Man Utd’s pursuit of Hall?
TEAMtalk report that Eddie Howe’s departure from Newcastle may lead to the Red Devils tabling an offer for the ex-Chelsea defender.
However, there are a couple of factors to consider before fans should get too excited about the prospect of Hall making the switch to Old Trafford.
Firstly, it is believed that the left-back was only considering leaving St James’ Park after being dropped by Howe at the end of last season. He may have a change of heart with Matthias Jaissle set to be appointed as the Magpies’ next head coach.
Secondly, Hall is valued in excess of £60m, which means he would cost more than four times what it would take to sign Salinas. As we have seen already this summer, the Red Devils are not prepared to overpay for players, and that may point towards a move being made for the Spaniard instead.
