Newcastle United's continuing summer nightmare could be a dream for Arsenal.
The Gunners have already added the likes of Piero Hincapie, Illan Meslier and Christos Tzolis to their ranks, but there's been no marquee arrival – yet. That could soon be about to change.
After already losing star men Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali, the Magpies took another devastating blow on Thursday with the news that Eddie Howe is stepping down after five years at the helm.
A fourth possible exit could soon come in the form of Bruno Guimaraes, who has been a key target for Mikel Arteta for much of the summer. Separately, the Premier League champions hinted that their transfer business still has some way to go this summer.
Here, football.london examines two of the latest stories surrounding the Premier League champions.

Arsenal's pursuit of Bruno Guimaraes has dominated proceedings throughout the summer, with the Gunners keen to bring the Newcastle captain to north London. Am agreement for the Brazil international is yet to be reached between the two clubs, although there are suggestions that is close.
The saga took yet another turn on Thursday following Eddie Howe's exit from St James' Park. According to The Telegraph, Howe had grown increasingly exasperated by the sales of Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali, alongside the persistent uncertainty surrounding his captain's future.

With Guimaraes, 28, due to report back to Newcastle for pre-season training on Friday, discussions surrounding his departure or continued stay are only set to intensify in the wake of Howe's exit. The Brazilian has forged a strong bond with the Tyneside faithful, yet remains open to a move to the capital that would see him back in Champions League football.

In contrast to many clubs who typically keep their plans under wraps regarding potential new recruits, Arsenal have taken a markedly different approach. The Gunners used their official club website to signal to supporters that further summer signings are likely before the window closes.
In a piece previewing their pre-season friendly against Girona on Saturday, a section read: "Two new signings have also joined the group this pre-season – goalkeeper Illan Meslier and forward Christos Tzolis – with more expected to sign before the end of the transfer window."
Arteta himself hinted at further arrivals in a conversation with Arsenal.com. The Spaniard said: "We all know about the context of this transfer window. From ownership to the board, the sporting director and myself, we know that we want to take this club to a different level.
"That is going to require a better squad, better individuals. We have identified where we have opportunities to grow and to improve and to evolve our game and what is going to be needed to achieve that. Hopefully very soon we can start to put things in a very concrete way."
