West Ham hold a long-term interest in Arsenal winger Reiss Nelson as they look to bolster their options out wide.
West Ham are eager to give Nuno Espirito Santo a squad capable of returning to the Premier League at the first time of asking. WHUFC are looking to bolster their options out wide, and a long-term target being eyed is Reiss Nelson.
ExWHUemployee reports that the Hammers have had eyes on Nelson for a while and he is being considered as a new wing signing for next season. The 26-year-old is down the pecking order at Arsenal and has 12 months left on his contract at the Emirates Stadium.
It is added that Nelson is eager to play regularly and it appeals to him to stay in London. Simon Adingra of Sunderland has also been considered, but they prefer to sell and his valuation is too high as it stands.
What Reiss Nelson would bring to West Ham if long-term interest materialises
London-born Nelson has been with Arsenal since the academy days, impressing for the U21s before making his breakthrough on loan at TSG Hoffenheim. He was touted for a future in the first-team and has spent spells around the senior ranks, but never really locked down a regular role in the side.
It means he has spent a few more spells out on loan since his Hoffenheim emergence. Nelson moved to Brentford for the 2025/26 campaign with past stints at Fulham and Feyenoord under his belt.
The West Ham target can operate on either flank. When on the left, he looks to cut in on his stronger right foot to unleash a shot or set up a teammate, whereas he is a more direct dribbler on the opposite flank, attacking the byline.
Nelson has not played Championship football before but his pedigree at a higher level would mean he is backed for success in the second tier at WHUFC.

It seems inevitable that Nelson moves on from Arsenal this summer. A transfer has been widely expected before and not come to fruition, but the Gunners are reigning Premier League champions and in a different position to when the winger penned his last contract in 2023.
As he enters the last 12 months of his contract, it benefits both him and the club to make a permanent move. They receive a fee, and Nelson avoids the uncertainty of free agency next summer.
Whether his likely availability prompts West Ham to move, it remains to be seen. He could be a valuable asset for the Hammers, but they have other wing options on the radar.
Sorba Thomas and Manor Solomon are both being considered as left-wing targets by WHUFC.
