Arsenal and Newcastle United have reached a €90m agreement in principle for the transfer of Brazil international midfielder Bruno Guimaraes (28), according to a report this Friday from L’Equipe. The 28-year-old already agreed personal terms with Mikel Arteta’s Gunners over a five-year contract. The Premier League champions were initially put off by Newcastle’s €100m valuation of the player, but Arsenal and the Magpies eventually reached a compromise.

Arsenal’s €90m bid, submitted on Friday, has made Newcastle blink. Details still need to be ironed out regarding add-ons and agents fees, but Bruno Guimaraes looks well on his way to join the Emirates Stadium. L’Equipe reports that Lyon are set to receive €8m from the Brazilian’s transfer, given they have negotiated a 20% sell-on clause after agreeing to part ways with Guimaraes six years ago in a €50m deal.
