There has been a frenzy of activity at Newcastle United in the last few days. Sadly, it hasn’t been the sort of news that Toon fans might have hoped for.
Eddie Howe was sacked, as several of their players continue to be linked with moves away from the club. Bruno Guimaraes already has one foot out of the door and Lewis Hall might soon follow the Brazilian international.
We previously reported that Hall, along with Tino Livramento, would likely remain in place at St. James’ Park. Nevertheless, this might no longer be the case.
According to a report from TEAMtalk, Manchester United are looking to open the bidding for the player soon. They have other targets in their sights, such as Alejandro Balde, but Hall ‘remains the priority’ for now.
They aren’t the only club in the race, though. A report from Football FanCast also implies that Arsenal could be looking to sign the player in the coming weeks.
Furthermore, being a former Chelsea player, the Blues might attempt to resign Hall before the end of the summer transfer window, as per journalist Simon Phillips.
On top of all this, Liverpool have also been tenuously linked with a move for the player. Earlier in the year, TransferFeed linked him with the Reds, noting that they have a ‘long-term appreciation’ for him.
Newcastle will likely pull out all the stops to try and keep Hall in Tyneside, given his importance to the club and the players they have already lost, but a big enough offer could see their hands effectively tied.

Hall is a phenomenal full-back with virtually no weaknesses. Defensively, he is very solid, whilst also being able to put forth a respectable attacking contribution. Don’t let his meagre G/A from last season fool you – he is much better than it might suggest.
He excels most when on the backfoot, though. Notably, he effectively contained Lamine Yamal during the Toon’s 1-1 draw with Barcelona back in March. They would lose the second leg 7-2, but Hall did manage to rack up an assist in that game and couldn’t be faulted for any of the seven goals conceded.
At just 21, he is also very young. On his current trajectory, Hall is on track to progress into one of the best left-backs in the world as things stand.
The Red Devils are in need of a left-back – bringing Hall to the club would be a fantastic move for Michael Carrick’s men. Patrick Dorgu has been converted into a winger, Luke Shaw is on the way out and Harry Amass is a little too green at this stage.
United have options in the role, but none of them are hitting the required standard at the moment. Amass will probably get there at some point, but he needs more experience in the first team before he can be trusted to become a first-team regular at Old Trafford.
