Pompey take on 2. Bundesliga side Darmstadt in Germany on Saturday - their first game on foreign since place FC Europa during pre-season in 2023
An estimated 1,500 Pompey fans are expected to descend on the German city of Darmstadt on Saturday as the Blues bring the curtain down on their pre-season schedule.
With 9,000 members of the Fratton faithful poised to be at the London Stadium for the Carabao Cup game at West Ham next week, and all away tickets for the trip to Lincoln City’s Sincil Bank on August 22 sold out - Pompey’s first Championship away day - Blues supporters clearly love hitting the road to cheer on John Mousinho’s side.
But for those who’ll be stuck at home or on holiday elsewhere for tomorrow’s game against SV Darmstadt 98 at the Merck-Stadion am Böllenfalltor, well, they needn’t feel they’re missing out too much.
That’s because the fixture against the 2. Bundesliga side, which kicks off at 1pm BST (2pm local time), will be streamed live on Pompey+.
Live coverage of the game starts at 12.30pm, with fans having to pay just £5 to watch on as Mousinho & Co put the finishing touches to their preparations for the new season.
Pompey flew out to Germany on Thursday with latest new additions Marko Milovanovic, Daniel Bielica and Luke Brooke-Smith included in the Blues’ travelling party.
The game gives them an excellent opportunity to get their first minutes in a Pompey shirt and to play in front of Pompey’s famous fanbase, which will include those elsewhere watching on from afar.
Commentary of the game will be provided by Andy Moon, with Linvoy Primus and Mark Kelly providing analysis pre and post-match.
Pompey’s live TV games
The Darmstadt fixture is one of a host of games over the coming weeks and months that will be available to watch for those unable to attend in person.
Pompey’s cup game at West Ham (3pm kick-off) will be broadcast live on Sky Sports+, as will their Championship opener against QPR at Fratton Park on Saturday, August 8 (3pm).
The following weekend’s trip to Lincoln (Saturday, August 22 with a 12.30pm kick-off) has also been selected for broadcast by Sky.
Meanwhile, Southampton (Sunday, October 11), Millwall (Saturday, October 24, 12.30pm kick-off), Stoke (Saturday, November 7, 12.30pm kick-off) and Millwall (Tuesday October 29, 7.45pm kick-off) have also been selected for live TV coverage.
