Arne Slot has reportedly decided to reject an immediate return to football, just two months after being sacked as Liverpool manager. The former Reds head coach was relieved of his duties earlier this summer, having failed to successfully defend the Premier League title last season. He was quickly replaced by Andoni Iraola, who will be hoping to lead a renewed challenge when the new campaign begins.
Slot has been out of work since leaving Liverpool, but he has been linked with a return to the dugout over the last few days, He's been mentioned in connection with a potential move to Saudi club Al-Ahli, who are set to lose Matthias Jaissle to Newcastle United. An agreement is reportedly close for the German to succeed Eddie Howe ahead of the new Premier League season.
However, it looks like Slot won't be accepting the Al-Ahli role, with the Liverpool Echo reporting that he wants to remain in European football rather than move to the Middle East.
The former Liverpool boss has also been tipped to take over as Netherlands manager, replacing Ronald Koeman, who left the role following the World Cup.
Slot was axed by the Reds just 12 months after winning the Premier League title in his first season at the club. However, the writing was on the wall after Liverpool lost 20 games in his sophomore campaign, leading to his dismissal.
In an open letter to supporters via the ECHO following his sacking, Slot insisted a new generation of talent was ready to embrace the responsibility of bringing more success to the club.
He wrote: "Liverpool's 20th league title belongs to all of us and it will remain an important chapter in its history. For that, we should all be proud.

"This club will always judge itself by the biggest honours. That is how it should be. But I also leave knowing the club is exactly where it belongs: amongst Europe's elite.
"Securing Champions League football was an important responsibility and one that ensures Liverpool can continue competing at the highest level next season and beyond. I leave with complete confidence in what lies ahead.
"The players, who have given so much to this club, who have upheld its values and helped create so many unforgettable moments, have built foundations that will endure.
"At the same time, a new generation is emerging, ready to write its own story and embrace the responsibility that comes with wearing this shirt.
"Change is part of football, but I know that this club will continue to make its people proud. When I first stood beneath that sign in the Anfield tunnel, I knew what this club demanded. I leave knowing we never stopped striving for it."
