Liverpool's number one transfer target is Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola, and Fabrizio Romano has issued a Friday update on the potential move after new talks.
Liverpool have made it clear in recent days that they are now ready to launch a big bid to sign the France international as they look to finally secure a replacement for Mohamed Salah.
The Reds may have signed Victor Munoz from Osasuna, but they want a high-profile successor to the Egyptian as well, after he left Anfield having scored 257 goals and registering a further 123 assists in 442 appearances for the Merseyside outfit.
Finding someone with the potential to replicate those numbers is maybe an impossible task, but there won't be many better options potentially on the market than Barcola this summer.
At 23 years of age, the attacker is still towards the beginning of his career but he has already produced some impressive numbers for PSG, with 39 goals and 37 assists in 152 outings for the Champions League holders.
Barcola also showcased his talent on the global stage with three impressive goals for France at the 2026 World Cup, as they finished fourth.
Now, Liverpool are determined to bring him to Anfield.

The latest suggestion out of Liverpool is that they are preparing their first offer for Barcola, with the player keen on a move away from the Parc des Princes as he has no intention of signing a new contract with the Ligue 1 champions.
Speaking on his YouTube channel on Friday morning, Romano issued the latest on Barcola joining Liverpool after new talks.
He said: "Bradley Barcola is super keen on Liverpool. Bradley Barcola is super excited about Liverpool. The contacts are continuing.
"Obviously, in order to see Bradley Barcola going to Liverpool, it takes a big financial investment and so, of course, Liverpool need to clarify how much they are willing to pay to Paris Saint-Germain in order to understand how they can make this deal for Bradley Barcola happen.
"Nothing is imminent. I know yesterday they told you, ah, the bid is preparing, it's getting ready. It's not about this. The bid will come. Obviously, Liverpool want Barcola, and this bid will come as the agreement with the player will come. It's just about reaching an agreement, a financial agreement with Paris Saint-Germain.
"So that's the key point, and this could take some time because PSG already lost many players up front, and at the moment they are finalising Akliouche, but they lost several players, and so that's going to be important."

Liverpool may have their full attention on Barcola right now, but reports suggest they are also discussing a £60m deal to sign Bournemouth winger Rayan.
The 19-year-old is on every big club's radar after scoring five goals in 15 Premier League appearances last term, having only joined the Cherries in the January transfer window.
While the Reds are considering a £60m offer for the Brazilian teenager, who scored for his nation at the World Cup, the south coast side are likely to demand at least £85m to let him leave this summer.
