**Piero Hincapie has outlined Arsenal’s ambition for the new season, insisting the Premier League champions must work even harder as they pursue further silverware.**
Mikel Arteta’s side ended a 22-year wait for the league title last season and also reached the Champions League final.
However, Hincapie believes that success has increased expectations rather than reduced the squad’s hunger.
“We have to work harder, work more than last year,” the Ecuador international said.
“We’re going to fight for everything.”
Speaking to [CBS Sports](https://www.cbssports.com/watch/soccer/video/arsenals-piero-hincapie-discusses-premier-league-title-morning-footy), Hincapie reflected on Arsenal remaining top throughout a demanding campaign.
The defender praised his team-mates for overcoming difficult periods and continuing to move forward when their position came under pressure.
Arsenal made Hincapie’s move from Bayer Leverkusen permanent this summer after his successful loan spell. The deal officially took effect on 1 July after the Gunners activated their purchase option.
The 24-year-old’s versatility helped Arteta manage injuries across the defensive line last season. He can operate at left-back or centre-back and offers aggression, recovery speed and quality in possession.
Arsenal are also continuing to strengthen around their title-winning squad.
The Gunners have reportedly [reached a €90million agreement in principle to sign Bruno Guimaraes](https://readarsenal.com/2026/07/31/arsenal-reach-e90m-agreement-to-sign-bruno-guimaraes/), although final details still need to be completed.
That potential arrival would add further experience as Arsenal prepare to defend their title and challenge again in Europe.
Hincapie’s message reflects the standards Arteta has established. Last season’s success delivered a major trophy, but Arsenal’s players are already focused on the opportunity to win more.
