Man Utd and Liverpool have registered their interest in Juventus winger Francisco Conceicao, according to reports in the Italian media.
The Gazzetta Dello Sport claim that both clubs have made enquiries for the Portuguese international and Juve “hope to sell him for €40m (£34m) to €50m (£43m).”
It is believed that the arrival of Kerim Alajbegovic has accelerated the Serie A side’s plans to offload Conceicao.
The Bianconeri saw off competition from Chelsea to secure the Bayer Leverkusen winger’s signature, but they are now out of pocket.
Conceicao’s sale is needed to make up for a financial shortfall
Juve failed to seal Champions League qualification last season, and as a result, the club are having to cut their cloth accordingly.
They were reportedly hoping to raise sufficient funds from the sale of Khephren Thuram, but an injury means the Frenchman is unlikely to leave.
With Alajbegovic’s arrival, it is felt they can do without Conceicao, as the Bosnian international can play on both wings.
Superagent Jorge Mendes is now said to be working on securing Conceicao a move away from Italy.
Do Man Utd need a right winger?
Conceicao is left-footed, but he is usually deployed on the right flank, which is not a position that the Red Devils really need to strengthen.
Manager Michael Carrick already has Bryan Mbeumo, Amad and even Patrick Dorgu, who can play there if needed.
It should be pointed out that Carrick has tended to use Dorgu as a more traditional winger on the left, so perhaps Conceicao could be deployed in a similar capacity.
In any case, most reports suggest that the Red Devils will not make a move for a wide player until Marcus Rashford is off the club’s books, so fans shouldn’t expect an approach for Conceicao in the immediate future.
