Liverpool fans swarm Nashville for exhibition win over Sunderland
Liverpool take on Leeds in Chicago as new boss Andoni Iraola tries to secure his third consecutive pre-season win.
Following on from victories against Sunderland and Wrexham, the former Bournemouth boss will have some big-hitters to call on for Sunday evening’s game.
The Spaniard now has Ryan Gravenberch, Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak available after they reported for duty following their countries’ World Cup participation.
In addition, £60m signing Jeremy Jacquet could feature after his injury. His transfer was announced a year ago, but only completed in June.
Fellow new signing and Spain international Victor Munoz is still absent following La Roja’s World Cup victory earlier this month. Also on extended breaks following the World Cup are Cody Gakpo, Virgil van Dijk and Argentina’s Alexis Mac Allister.
Joe Gomez, who picked up an injury in their friendly against Sunderland last weekend, is unavailable and could miss the start of the Premier League season.
He joins long-term absentees Stefan Bajcetic, Conor Bradley, Hugo Ekitike, Wataru Endo and Giovanni Leoni on the sidelines.
Hot seat: Iraola has made an impressive start to his Liverpool stint
Iraola has rotated significantly in each game so far, only starting Giorgi Mamardashvili and Harvey Elliot in both.
Right-back Jeremie Frimpong is likely to come back in for Calvin Ramsay, while Jacquet could feature from the start alongside one of academy graduates Luke Chambers, Ifeanyi Ndukwe or Talla Ndiaye at the centre of defence.
Milos Kerkez - who Iraola managed at Bournemouth - will start at left-back over Kostas Tsimikas. Dominik Szoboszlai - one of Liverpool’s bright sparks last season - could start alongside Gravenberch. Failing that, youngsters Trey Nyoni or James McConnell will feature from the start.
