Momentum is shifting in Arsenal’s favour in the case of Vinicius Junior's potential blockbuster transfer exit from Real Madrid, football.london understands.
Real Madrid so far have not and seemingly will not be, barring a significant change of heart, shifting their position on their offer to the Brazilian in a contract renewal.
Reports from Marca on Friday morning detailed that the latest offer to Vini Jr and his people is ‘final’.
Vinicius Junior’s preference has been known to want to remain with Los Blancos, but an unwillingness so far from Real to find a compromise beyond this latest offer has seen sentiment begin to change.
This is opening the door for Arsenal, who, at all levels, are aligned in making a deal happen should the player’s future with Real Madrid fail to conclude this summer in a contract renewal.
football.london understands no decision has yet been taken, and the player will not rush into a choice, but the picture is clear where both Real Madrid and Arsenal now stand.
And that is exactly what is currently taking shape in the Spanish capital. Mikel Arteta gave an ambitious view of the club’s summer plans, much of which would be fulfilled by the arrival of Vinicius Junior.
“A lot is happening," Arteta said in his first interview of the summer. "We all know about the context of this transfer window.
“From ownership to the board, the sporting director and myself, we know that we want to take this club to a different level. That is going to require a better squad, better individuals.
“We have identified where we have opportunities to grow and to improve and to evolve our game and what is going to be needed to achieve that. Hopefully, very soon we can start to put things in a very concrete way.”
The club are also closing in on a move for Newcastle United midfielder and Vini Jr’s Brazilian teammate Bruno Guimaraes.
A figure in the region of £80million is hoped to be agreed with intermediaries central to talks behind the scenes, with add-ons expected to be critical in the final agreement.
