Everton news & talking points: Ndiaye family speaks out, Nwaneri price emerges
A packed day of Everton news on Merseyside, with developments across incomings, outgoings and finances.
Iliman Ndiaye’s father moved to calm nerves over his son’s future, telling Senegalese outlet Wiw Sport that Ndiaye has “no intention” of joining Al Hilal despite the ongoing speculation.
It fits the club’s own stance — Everton have set no valuation on the winger and are unwilling to discuss a fee, even as talks between the two clubs continue at boardroom level.
Elsewhere, Everton have emerged as genuine contenders for Ethan Nwaneri. Arsenal are said to want around €35m (£30m) for the winger, and Everton believe his stated preference for a permanent deal could hand them the edge over AC Milan, who favour a loan with an option to buy.
It wasn’t all good news. Tyler Dibling has been named on RB Leipzig’s shortlist of possible replacements for Yan Diomande, who is closing in on a move to Real Madrid. It’s a reminder that Dibling — signed for £42m from Southampton just last summer — has struggled to establish himself, making just 14 Premier League appearances without a goal or assist.
Behind the scenes, Companies House filings confirmed The Friedkin Group have injected a further £38.8m into the club via a new share issue, understood to relate to the compensation payment owed to Burnley following a Premier League commission ruling. It takes the total equity pumped in by the ownership group since December 2024 close to half a billion pounds.
And amid all the incoming and outgoing noise, there’s still no resolution on the position supporters are most anxious about. With three weeks to go until kick-off, Everton still have no senior right-back beyond Nathan Patterson — a gap that’s become a lightning rod for wider frustrations about the pace of recruitment this summer.
Plenty still to play out before the window shuts, but Thursday gave Evertonians a fuller picture of where things stand: some promise going forward, uncertainty at the back, and a reminder that ownership backing isn’t always the same as squad building.
