The latest Premier League transfer news as Chelsea, Nottingham Forest and Liverpool look to get key summer deals done
There are just three weeks left to go until the 2026/27 Premier League season starts, and anticipation is continuing to build ahead of what’s promising to be another thrilling season of top tier football in England. There are new managers and new star players aplenty, all of whom will need to hit the ground running in the notoriously competitive league.

Meanwhile, the summer transfer window continues to produce drama and intrigue, with plenty of big deals already done and many more to come. We’re still waiting to find out what will happen to Newcastle United skipper Bruno Guimaraes amid substantial interest from Arsenal, while Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez could also move on before the window closes in early September.
The future of the latter leads us neatly onto today’s first story, which concerns the Blues apparently looking for his replacement: Bournemouth’s Alex Scott. The Cherries have so far been bullish in their refusal to sell the England U21 international in this window, but Chelsea are now said to be plotting an improved £70m bid after seeing their initial £64m offer rejected.
That’s according to Caught Offside, who note that the offer is still likely to be considerably short of the £80m that could tempt Bournemouth into selling. Manchester United, Spurs and Liverpool are also thought to be highly interested in the 22-year-old, with the latter now managed by Andoni Iraola, who left the Cherries to join the Reds at the end of last season.
The 3AM Verdict: Chelsea haven’t been messing around this summer, already spending over £250m on new signings. Scott would be an excellent replacement for Fernandez, who tarnished his Blues career withthat interview last season. That said, we wouldn’t bet against Chelsea making a move for Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton instead, who may be an easier target to land before the window shuts.
Liverpool could swoop for England international

Next, it’s over to Anfield, where Liverpool will look to wrestle back the Premier League title this season after failing to defend their crown in the 2025/26 campaign. With Joe Gomez injured again in pre-season, the Reds need a backup option, and Italian outlet Tutto Juve have claimed they’ve made a move to sign AC Milan’s £25m man Fikayo Tomori, amid rival interest from Juventus.
The report suggests that Liverpool have already been in touch with the San Siro giants, and are preparing to make an opening offer. It’s noted that the ex-Chelsea star has less than a year left on his current deal, and is likely to leave the Serie A side while they still have a chance to get some money for him. A potential fee is not mentioned, however.
The 3AM Verdict: Signing Tomori makes a lot of sense for Liverpool. He wouldn’t cost the world, most likely wouldn’t expect to start every week, and would be another homegrown player to help them comply with the Premier League’s rules. We’d argue that the Reds still haven’t properly replaced Ibrahima Konate, however, which could prove costly this season.

Last up, we’ll nip across to the City Ground, where Nottingham Forest look set to muscle in on Inter’s transfer plans and snatch one of their top targets. That’s according to Team Talk, who say the Tricky Trees have “opened talks” to sign Union Saint-Gilloise winger Anan Khalaili, after his proposed move to I Nerazzurri collapsed.
This happened due to an issue during the player’s medical, with Italian regulations particularly stringent when it comes to cardiac screenings. The same issue saw then Wigan Athletic star Antonee Robinson miss out on a move to AC Milan back in 2020. Forest now look set to capitalise on the situation, with the report suggesting they’ll make an offer in the region of £22m to seal the deal.
The 3AM Verdict: New Forest boss Oliver Glasner loves a wing-back, and Khalili is more than capable of playing in that role on either side, as well as operating in more advanced roles. A host of other Premier League clubs including Everton and Leeds are also said to be keen, but we fancy Forest to get the deal done - one that will be deemed a bit of a coup.
